February 2 to 5

Homework—Must Do
  • 30 minutes of reading (silent or partner) at least 3 times per week
  • 10 minutes of basic fact work (times tables!) at least 3 times per week

Update: If any of you saw the earlier update about the addition cost of the skiing/snowboarding trip, please ignore. The school will be paying the difference, so the cost for the trip will remain at $45.31



This week:
  • No school Monday, February 1. 
  • On Wednesday, Grade 6s will attend a presentation about the late-immersion programme at Branton.
  • We have our fifth session with Matthew Miller from Alberta Health Services on Thursday. 
  • Craft Fair permission forms are due on Thursday.   
  • T.B. Riley will be holding an open house on Thursday, February 4 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. 
  • We will be going to Bowness Park for half of the day on Friday. If any parents are interested and able to come along with us, please email Ms. Hansen.
    • It is forecasted to be warm tomorrow, but because we are going to the park first thing, it will still be chilly. Please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately, and that he or she has a water bottle and snacks. Lunch will take place as usual back at school.  

Next week:
  • Inside Out Project will be running all week. 
  • No school on Thursday or Friday (Teachers' Convention) or the following Monday (Family Day)—that means a five-day weekend for kids!
  • We will be having our sixth Zones of Regulation session with Matthew Miller (it will be on Tuesday, because of Teachers' Convention). 
  • There will be a staff v. students floor hockey game on Wednesday morning.

This week:
  • Wednesday is "Cozy Up and Read" day—wear your jams, and bring a stuffy and your favourite book.
  • We have our fourth session with Matthew Miller from Alberta Health Services this week. 
  • Friday is an early dismissal day. 
  • Progress Reports go home on Friday. 

Next week:
  • Monday is a Non-Instructional Day (no school for kids!).
  • We will be having our fifth Zones of Regulation session with Matthew Miller. 
  • On February 3, Branton School will be presenting to all Grade 6s about their late-immersion French program (the presentation will take place at the school)—this was rescheduled from an earlier date.

  • We have our third session with Matthew Miller from Alberta Health Services this week. 
  • This Wednesday, Branton School will be presenting to all Grade 6s about their late-immersion French program (the presentation will take place at the school). 
  • The BOKs program resumes this week. Contact the office if you would like for your child to participate. 
  • Friday is an early dismissal day.

  • also, anyone who hasn't completed writing and typing up their snowbound stories must do so at home

This week:
  • We have our second session with Matthew Miller from Alberta Health Services this week. 
  • This Friday, we will be going outside to ski and snowshoe with Paul Kelba, our Outdoor Education Specialist. It will be cold, so please ensure that your child is dressed for the weather: snow pants, toques, gloves, boots, etc.
  • A note about skiing/snowboarding went home Monday. Please return the completed note by Friday in order to reserve a spot for your child!

  • We will be having our second Zones of Regulation session with Matthew Miller.

December 14 to 17

"Homework"

  • 10 minutes of basic fact work (times tables!) at least 3 times per week—we are seeing the value in knowing times tables up to 10 right now!

This week:
  • Please remember to bring in non-perishable food items for the Mayor's Food Drive.
  • Carol singing assembly on Monday, December 14
  • Carol singing/choir assembly on Wednesday, December 16
  • Choir concert on Wednesday, December 16 at 7 pm
  • Carol singing assembly on Thursday, December 17
  • Room 17 will be having a holiday celebration on Thursday, December 17. Anyone who would like to bring a treat for the class may do so. 
  • Non-Instructional on Friday, December 18 (no school for students!)
  • We will be tying up loose ends before the Winter Break, work-wise. In addition to all of the school and class holiday celebrations, we will continue to work on multiplying decimals (grocery list project), we will present our extreme weather projects, and we will finish our Stampede School Film Festival.
